Bo Knows
Don’t go to a rescue shelter while on vacation.
Last Tuesday I was standing in line to go through security at La Guardia airport in New York City returning to Hilton Head after my quarterly CT scan visit to Sloan-Kettering. (By the way, by God’s grace, the scan was clear!)
While standing in the security line, a lady with her young son was holding a pet carrier with a dog inside. I commented, “Cute dog” to which she replied, “Thank you, but don’t ever go to an animal rescue shelter while on vacation!”
Turns out she used to live in NYC and worked at a police station next to a rescue shelter. She currently lives in Savannah and was in NYC visiting friends she used to work with, and just walked into the shelter— AND LEFT WITH A DOG to bring home to Savannah!
What’s the point? The point is, she never walked into that shelter to get a dog. She walked into that shelter “just looking around” and fell in love with a dog!
Very rarely will our customers buy something they don’t see. However, if we can get them to come visit our property and see it, many of them will fall in love with it, and become owners. Encourage them to come “look around.” Many times the rest will take care of itself.
If you happen to be in a high traffic area with a lot of walk-ins, don’t fall into the trap of thinking they aren’t good prospects to buy. Look at it this way, if they don’t see the property they definitely won’t buy.
Just as Bo’s new owner had no intention of getting a new dog, many of your prospects may have no intention of buying a new home right now. However, once they visit and take a look, good things happen!
Let’s remember to first sell the visit and “come take a look.” As of last night, Bo is now happily living in his new southern home. There are a lot of “Bo’s” out there who want to relocate and are waiting for the professional who convinces them to, “Come take a look.”
Bo knows!
