Be a Nick!

Some of you may have attended one of my training sessions where I use a visual of a hat that has the words, “Make Me Feel Special,” written on the front.  I encourage each of you to visualize these words on the forehead of everyone with whom you come into contact.

Today I will walk into the Sloan-Kettering Outpatient Center in New York City for my quarterly CT Scan and am optimistic the scan will show my previous pancreatic cancer is still absent from my body.  It is not a place you enjoy visiting, but I look forward to seeing Nick at the front desk in the lobby!

Nick has the greatest smile, warmest greeting, and makes everyone who walks into that lobby “Feel Special!”  You see, Nick understands that you come to this Sloan-Kettering facility for one reason—you either have cancer, or you are with a loved one who has cancer.

Nick is a breath of fresh air to all of us fighting this disease and who walk past his desk.  He has certainly made my trips here much better, as I feel he genuinely cares and he “Makes Me Feel Special.”

What’s my point?  TO WHOM CAN YOU BE A NICK TODAY?  Whether you work in food and beverage, security, or sales, be INTENTIONAL to make everyone with whom you come into contact, “FEEL SPECIAL.”

Your business will grow, but more importantly, you will make a difference in the lives of those around you.

By the way, when I see Nick today, I’ll tell him you said hello.
